Frequently asked questions about Xperio
What is the difference between an Xperio polarizing lens and an ordinary tinted lens?
Ordinary tints can reduce brightness and provide UV protection (if they are properly treated), but only Xperio eliminate dangerous and blinding glare, offering excellent visual comfort, better clarity of vision, and true color perception.

What is polarized light?
Light is emitted in waves by the sun, or by artificial sources like a light bulb. These waves vibrate and travel in all directions from the source. This “flattened” light is known as “polarized light.” When light bounces off a shiny surface, it can become polarized and enter the eye causing blinding effect.

Do Xperio polarizing lenses have any other benefits, other than blocking reflecting glare?
Xperio lenses not only eliminate dangerous glare—even dashboard glare—for greater driving safety but they let you see even the smallest things with greater clarity, true color perception and total comfort. And unlike regular sunglasses, they also virtually eliminate glare, allowing you to see more clearly and comfortably outdoors. In addition to this, Xperio corrective polarized sun lenses completely block UV rays coming from the front and drasticaly reducing UV rays reflected on the rear lens' surface when combined with Crizal Sun UV for an E-SPF 50+ - reducing potential vision damage. That’s one parameter you shouldn’t forget when choosing your next pair of sunglasses.
Why would you want a Crizal Sun, anti-reflective coating on the backside of the lens?
For the ultimate in crisp, clear vision, ask for Xperio polarized lenses with Crizal Sun™. Crizal Sun is a backside anti-reflective coating designed specifically for sun lenses eliminating bothersome glare and visual discomfort. It protects both the eyes and the lenses. It delivers the famous scratch protection and ease of cleaning of Crizal® technology, optimal protection against reflection on the back surface of the lens, and gives the wearer clearer vision while protecting their investment.
Are Xperio polarizing lenses only limited to activities near the water (sailing, fishing…)?
No, the benefits of Xperio polarized lenses are much wider. They enhance contrast and provide greater color perception than traditional sun lenses for all outdoor activities and for driving.
Wearers will experience superior visual performance and optimal protection in all situations. Xperio polarized lenses offer benefits that include: dangerous and blinding glare elimination, true color perception, unmatched clarity of vision and superior scratch resistance.
Moreover Xperio lenses eliminate dangerous glare—even dashboard glare—for greater driving safety.
A recent clinical study measured driver reaction times for Xperio polarized lenses versus ordinary tints and found that driver reaction times were improved by 1/3 of a second. For a car traveling 80 km/h, 1/3 of a second allows a driver to stop a vehicle 7 meters sooner. That’s the length of an intersection and could mean the difference between being in an accident or avoiding one.
